Sepia and umber are beautiful, mystical, nostalgic... metals dissolved over time... The irony is these paintings are made with mud! I use Burnt Umber which is made from iron mud from Holland. It is a most beautiful and delicate substance and very forgiving. I enjoy making my own paints and can spend hours grinding pigment.
